Well, it’s official. Beth and I both have Covid-19. It took us 3 years of trying, but we finally caught it. I had already felt like crap all week; so had Beth. Since last weekend, I’ve been sleeping in the downstairs bedroom, at first because Beth was so sick, then because we might have different things, and then because neither one of us was sleeping well and we might keep the other one up. My biggest symptoms were the aches, chills, and night sweats…the kind where you wake up freezing cold, but you’re sweating like crazy and have to get up to change your t-shirt because it’s soaking wet. I felt sick on Monday, and did go in briefly while I felt terrible but I had things I needed to get done. By Tuesday there was no way, and I felt terrible all the time. I did get the symptoms knocked down by taking Motrin every 4 hours or so, but still felt awful most of the time. By Thursday I felt ok enough to run out and get some Covid tests, which were very positive for both of us. So we’ve been watching a lot of TV and ordering a lot of delivery this week.

I had to call a plumber for the downstairs toilet again on Monday, because it was doing the same thing as it did over the past weekend. Clog somewhere down there, backing up into the shower. I was hoping getting the tweezers out would stop whatever was going on, but at least this time I could get someone on the phone. It was Tuesday before they could come out, though. So I hope I didn’t give the plumber Covid. Anyway the clog went down by itself again on Monday, so there wasn’t anything for the plumber to really do, so I guess we’ll just watch out for a recurrence and hope it doesn’t.

My group at work had a little celebratory get together Friday this week; we all went to lunch at the Boathouse and afterwards went to Trey’s house for board games. Unfortunately most everyone had prior engagements for Friday evening so we only spent a couple hours playing (the choice was ‘Survive! Escape from Atlantis’). I had to bow out by around 5 because our life group was going out bowling. Most of the group was there at the alley and bowled a couple of games together. I bowled, Beth did not (bowling is one of the off-limits activities since she had her hands reconstructed a few years back). I did all right for not having bowled in some time. Years. I bowed around 90 the first game and around 130 the second, which is about what I bowled when we were bowling regularly, so I gather I’m not a very good bowler. By Saturday, Beth was feeling sick, and on Sunday, she stayed home from church (I went because I’m driving the van for the next 2 weeks, but I’m starting to feel like I’m coming down with something). Not much else happened this week except Beth was working all week. So, she has a feeling that she caught something from someone who came in there.

We had an unusual occurrence Saturday that necessitated me calling a plumber. However I’m finding out that apparently there are no plumbers anywhere in the area that will take a call on the weekend, so plan ahead to have your plumbing problems during business hours. Anyway the downstairs toilet clogged up pretty badly, and whatever was clogging it moved past where the drain joins the shower drain because what was going down the toilet was coming up into the shower, which was gross. Mostly confined to in the drain, but I could still see stuff down in there and plunging the toilet only sent stuff into the shower, and was not effective in clearing the clog. I even went out and bought a snake which was also no help, but eventually the clog went down by itself, and the snake did bring back up a pair of large tweezers. No telling how long that thing had been stuck in the u-bend, or if it is the reason that it clogged. But it certainly can’t hurt to have it out.

The Super Bowl was once again on a channel that we don’t have at home, so I once again signed us up for a free week trial run of FuboTV so I could watch the game. Now I just have to remember to cancel the subscription in time. I feel good about Eagles losing the Super Bowl, not so much that I was rooting for the Chiefs as I dislike Philly and their fans in general, plus they beat the 49ers and their 4th string QB in the championship game.

Saturday Beth and I went out and about because we haven’t gone much of anywhere lately. We went to the antiques place on US 30 because Missy commented a number of times last time she was here about a Big Bird cookie jar that is for sale there. She has always liked it and it has been there for at least a few years. She said last time that if it was still there when she is home for summer and has a job, she is going to buy it. So Beth and I went back there to get it for her for her birthday this summer. Not sure if we should make sure she goes there again sometime and sees it is gone, or not. Anyway we also went to lunch at a really good and eclectic lunch place called Pickles CafĂ© in Columbia City, because we wanted to go somewhere we’ve never been before. I had a blueberry pulled pork sandwich which was really good but a bit too heavy on the blueberry. Got the oil in the van changed at a new place because we thought it might be cheaper than Jiffy Lube (nope).

Beth and I took Missy back to school again today. She’s been home for the weekend. Beth went and got her Friday afternoon so she could recharge a bit at home (she had a rough week). We didn’t do a whole lot this weekend but go to the antiques place on US 30 on Saturday (we had lunch before going out there, and I realized as I got there that I’d left my phone and the cash envelopes at the restaurant back in Warsaw, so by the time I retrieved those and got back to the antiques place, the girls were done browsing) and church today, but I think she just needed a place to get away and chill.

I’ve been to church a lot this week. Jack is training me how to put together all the slides and do the broadcasting for church, since Jeremy left a few months back the church has relied on volunteers to do the tech and Jack has basically taken over the lead on all of it. He’s figuring it all out, making improvements and putting together the procedures and everything, and training others (just me so far) to do it all. I’m pretty much all trained, so I’ll be splitting time with Jack on putting everything together during the week from now on.
