It has been a pretty good weekend. Alex wasn't scheduled to work on Friday, so Beth and I thought it would be fun to go see the Komets since they were in town, and the season isn't going to be going on much longer. We knew they were doing all sorts of social distancing and such in the Coliseum, including pod seating, so we couldn't get a group of 5 seats all together. Weird ticket sales rules for the pandemic, I guess, but the only place I could find a group of 3 and a group of 2 close together was in the 600 level, higher up than we usually sit. On the way to the Coliseum we had to make a detour to the mall because Alex's jeans ripped. He sat down and they just ripped right down the seam along the back pocket, and there was no hiding it without typing a jacket around his waist. We were able to find a pair of joggers at Penney's, but no jeans that fit him. Anyway, the seats actually were really good, we had a good view of the whole ice, except the cameras were right in front of us so I would suggest being on the other side next time. I'm not sure how big the crowd was, but it was much sparser than usual. Less than a quarter capacity, I'd say. Nevertheless we had a lot of fun. It was a good game, and we got to see a lot of stuff: a hat trick (Brandon Hawkins), a shorthanded goal (that was sweeeeeet), a goalie (theirs) take a puck right in the nuts, and a 6-2 win over Wheeling. It's more fun with a big crowd but it was a lot of fun anyway.....
Alex worked on Saturday, so the rest of us went to Goshen to drop off Nat at a friend's house (she met him at her other friend's party in Columbia City a couple weeks ago) for the afternoon. We tried to go get something to eat at a new restaurant there, and at first they said there was no wait but that turned out to be wrong as it was prom night. We waited for a while but then it got close enough that we decided to go back to Warsaw because Alex was getting off work soon.....
Today we all went out to the country to go geocaching with the plan to wind up at the Igloo. So we headed out towards North Manchester, got a few in town there, then a couple in the middle of nowhere between NM and Silver Lake, then ice cream and back home....
I called the woman that called the church asking for help cleaning up her home a couple weeks ago, and it turns out that she has a court date soon and doesn't want to clean it up until after that, and anyway she doesn't feel like it is safe to be there right now, so we're just going to wait until we hear from her again about it.....
Beth and I both got our 2nd covid vaccines this week. We just brought the little cards to the pharmacy at Meijer and got them right away. So maybe we're immune now. Hopefully it's all going to go away soon....
Alex had an honors recognition reception this week; the Tri-Kappa society got all the honors seniors together at the PAC at the high school and handed award certificates and honors cords for graduation. Alex is graduating magna cum laude. There were a whole bunch of former Zillionaires there with him. We couldn't be more proud of that kid.....
