The regular season for softball closed out this week, with a pretty brutal loss by us. The team won last week without me, which was good, but this week we got thumped 13-3 in 5 innings. So we finished up 3-7 on the season. Tournament starts next week (our real season).....The whole family went to FW to visit mom yesterday. She was lying in bed, looked around some but did not show any signs of recognition I thought. She apparently doesn't talk any more, and hardly eats; she's still losing weight pretty fast. Beth and the kids visited with me for a while until it seemed too crowded, then they left me with her for a while. I talked with her for a bit, but she is just not there any more. There is also a painting in her room that I had forgotten about, which is a southwestern scene that looks a lot like where we scattered dad's ashes. That was pretty cool. We went to the mall after the visit, and the kids wanted to get her a present so we stopped and got her a little stuffed sheep that was very soft and she might like to hold with her. I ran back in on the way out of town and gave it to her; she was seated at the dinner table and showed no sense of recognition for me, or the sheep. Not sure there was any point to that. But, it's something.
