Today was Pinewood Derby day for Alex's Cub Scout pack. Next year, hopefully Alex will listen a little bit to me...this year, he was convinced that if his car was heavier it would go faster, and thus he would not have any more wood removed than a tiny triangled bit in the front. I couldn't convince him that all cars would be the same weight by race time. Anyway, it was less than aerodynamic, but he didn't want to work on it with me either so it didn't get worked on. I won't do it for him unless he wants to work on it with me. Anyway, next year maybe we can check out some tips on how to make it go faster, because he really wanted to win but came in 11th overall out of 16. Two Tiger Cubs were 1st and 2nd overall. Alex was pretty upset about not getting a trophy...last year he did get one but it was for 2nd place among Tiger Cubs (there were only 2 racing). Anyway, the race itself went off pretty well. We held the race at the church instead of at the warehouse where we did it last year, which worked out great. The church youth group was also having a derby race in the morning, and we just set up ours after they were done. We had a carry-in and used the same PA system and all that had already been set up, then took everything down and put it away. There was a good turnout, and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
