Our first camping experience with Alex was this past weekend. We and several other families from our church spent the long weekend at Chain O' Lakes State Park. Unfortunately, it was quite cold most of the weekend so the activities were a little more limited than last year. We kept Alex bundled up or in the camper most of the time. He also gave us the motivation to start him out on some rice cereal in his last bottle of the day, since camping out is all about sleeping late and he was up at midnight, 4:00, and 8:00 all 3 nights. We think he's ready. we know we're ready. Anyway, the camper worked great. The heater worked very well so we were warm enough all the time, and the water heater worked like a charm. The only problem is the gray water tank, which is pretty small compared to the fresh water tank. I had to empty it out on Saturday and Monday. Saturday I ran back to town with a couple other guys to pick up a tote tank to empty it out. I'll have to get one of my own if we're going to camp a lot, I think. Anyway, Alex had a lot of substitute grandmas over the weekend, which was nice for Beth and me if we wanted a break.
